The micro switch in the selector lever registers the position of the lever and reports it to the transmission control unit. If this switch no longer works reliably, the vehicle does not recognise the selected position, or does not recognise it every time.

Associated complaints include: the vehicle does not start, the park position is not recognised, or a selector lever message appears in the instrument cluster. With this complaint the complete mechatronics unit or selector lever is regularly replaced unnecessarily, while replacing the switch is sufficient.
